tuneful side

Sheen has been playing and calling for ceilidhs since her early teens. A founder member of  Stömp she plays English concertina, flute and whistles and is responsible for much of Stömp’s original material. With Stocai she adds ‘Comedy Bassoon.’ It’s rumoured that she’s also a fantastic fiddler – after about six pints that is … In real life Sheen works for the Camden Music Service, conducting the Camden Youth Choir and pretending to be a proper musician.

Laura is the most recent addition to the band, having initially been signed up to cover for Kevin’s illness. The twin fiddle sound was so good it had to be kept. Laura is a proper violin player- she has toured with 10000 Maniacs- and is currently a colleague of Sheena’s in Camden Music  Service. Laura does not allow her picture to be taken.

Kev was asked to joined Stömp as a fiddle and mandolin player, but in a bid to hear himself on stage he added the Telecaster- so if he gets started on how much kit he has to bring to gigs, just remind him that he wasn't hired as a guitarist.
The Royal School of Church Music, folk clubs and prog rock are all in the mix somewhere,  but as far as Stömp is concerned, twenty five years of playing fiddle for Morris and country dance is what counts. He also plays in the dance band Stocai and in concert with the Living Archive Band.
